Sheep born with six feet in China
A bizarre video has emerged of a sheep born with six feet.
The video was captured in Jinan, Shandong Province in Chins last week. It shows three of the animals feet growing out of the front left leg of the animal.
Recently, a sheep in the village gave birth to four sheep. Unfortunately three of the baby sheep died, but this young sheep miraculously survived.
The rare birth defect that causes the growth of extra limbs is called polymelia in humans and land dwelling animals.
In some cases, an embryo will start as conjoined twins, but one twin degenerated except for some of its limbs. These extra limbs end up attached to the other twin. In many cases the extra limbs are removed and the condition is not life threatening.
