Smoking marijuana lowers IQ in teens

Parents have another weapon in the 'Just Say No to Drugs' arsenal. Weed can make you stupid.

Not in the sense that you're dumb if you decide to smoke marijuana, but it literally can suck points from your IQ.

Scientists from Western University in Canada published a study that claims early pot smoking in teens raises the risk of brain dysfunction, depression, and bipolar disorder, and it also lowers IQs.

While some studies claim marijuana use can alleviate depression, the Western University scientists found weed did nothing to correct brain abnormalities or symptoms of depression. In fact, they say depression worsened in some regions of the brain with pot smoking.

The study also found early marijuana use severely impairs memory function.

Besides experimenting with weird clothing choices and blasting loud music, adolescence is a crucial time for brain development. Why stunt that permanent growth for a temporary high?
