Star high school football player shot hours after game

CHICAGO (WGN) -- A star high school football player is recovering this morning after being shot over the weekend.

Everett Henderson, 17, was shot on the front porch of his home Saturday in the 10900 block of South Eberhart, just hours after playing a football game.

He is a running back at Chicago Vocational Career Academy is said to be in critical condition.

His coach tells The Sun-Times that Henderson was shot a total of six times, and could be in a wheelchair for a while.

He added the wounds are not said to be life threatening, but could impact his ability to play football.
