Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to honeymoon in Canada: report

Canadians are standing on guard for a pair of popular visitors.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, married last weekend, will spend their honeymoon at the “Royal Retreat” in Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Alberta, according to TMZ.

The royal couple did not jet off right away after their nuptials, though their reported plans to head to the New World together comes after a ceremony that drew heavily on Markle’s American background.

Previous reports have said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were planning to go to Namibia or elsewhere in Africa, where they had spent time early on in their relationship.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie told Elle.com that any location mentioned in the press is off the post-wedding reception table because of safety concerns.

It was not clear if that also applied to America’s Neighbor to the North, which is part of the British commonwealth.

TMZ, which repeatedly interviewed Markle’s father in the run up to the wedding, noted that British royals including Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II have previously vacationed at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Beyond a longer honeymoon, the Irish Independent reported that the duke and duchess may go on a one-night “mini-moon” to Ireland this summer.
