NYFW: Ulla Johnson Spring 2018

In true Ulla Johnson fashion, the designer's Spring 2018 collection was a complete dream.

The ready-to-wear line, which debuted the second day of New York Fashion Week, featured a playful mix of femininity and mysticism. It was a combination that entranced audience members from the second they took their seats in front of the runway.

Transparency was one of the elements that the designer sought to highlight this season. In her show notes, Johnson addressed her inclination for "pure and open" creations. Such designs reflected this desire -- and in doing so, she achieved a sense of freedom through her art.

Sheer skirts, loose corsets, translucent lace and unbound webbing contributed to Ulla's ethereal production. Blush and green florals, including amaranth and delphinium, scattered the runway, matching the colors of her creations: A sunshine-colored prairie-decorated dress, a lilac A-line mini dress, a blush-on-blush long-sleeved maxi were amongst the show's standouts.

It was, wholeheartedly, springtime for Johnson.

Johnson also mixed and matched with organza creations, ruffles and flair, so that the models seemed to glide along the runway. At one point, she diverged from her "flower power" masterpieces by dabbling in sexy black designs like crop tops, one-sleeved ensembles and heavy, oversized cloaks.

Though unexpected, Johnson's daring taste of black was a welcomed addition to her usual flirty lineup.
