Med student to marry her degree in $3000 'graduwedding'

A Texas medical student has decided to celebrate her graduation in a unique way.

27-year-old Angie Hamouie is graduating from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston; during her time, she also completed her masters in public health in Columbia. After medical school graduation, she's heading to Georgetown University to do her residency.

On her wedding website, Hamouie explains that she found out she got into her dream residency program on Match Day, March 17, where medical students around the country find out what program they "matched" to. She decided then to celebrate her degrees -- and nine years of higher education -- in style.

"Imagine a graduation party that's as EXTRA as a wedding. That's a Graduwedding. It's unlike any graduation party ever," her website says. "This party is the celebration of the life-long partnership Angie will have with her diploma."

Hamouie has done an "enmatchment" photoshoot with her and her diploma:

She is also accepting donations to charities to empower students as a registry. The ceremony will set her back around $3000 according to Cosmopolitan. Included in the cost is the photoshoot, a dress, DJ, decor and catering.

Hamouie has decided to pursue obstetrics and gynecology. The graduwedding date is set for May 17.
