Carrie Fisher's most iconic red carpet moments

One Tuesday morning, Carrie Fisher passed away after suffering a heart attack. The legendary 'Star Wars' actress was only 60, but the mark she made as Princess Leia will continue for a long while.

To many fans, the character was so much more than an iconic hairstyle or gold bikini. She wasn't a damsel in distress (a phrase Fisher herself hated, according to a Rolling Stone interview) -- she was independent, strong, a pioneer. She was tough.

At only 19, she played Leia, and continued with three more installments.

Even out of the spotlight, Fisher embodied these characteristics. A single mother, with bouts of substance abuse, depression and bipolar disorder, she persevered. And she brought that force to the red carpet.
