Man dies while trying to save his wife's life

A North Carolina couple who had been married for 31 years died suddenly after the man had a heart attack while trying to revive his wife who he found unresponsive.

According to Stanly News & Press, Johnny Hatley, 67, found his wife, 66-year-old Teresa Hatley, on the floor of their home Sunday morning.

Johnny immediately began performing CPR, though it is believed that his wife was already dead.

First responders told family members that Johnny had a heart attack as he tried to save his love.

"Obviously, he could not live without her," their daughter, Lisa Hammill, told the newspaper.

The couple's other daughter, Shelly Palmer, added that she is at great peace knowing their parents are together in heaven.
