What everyone is being for Halloween this year, according to Google

Still searching for that perfect Halloween costume? Hey, us too. And for most, we rake to Google for just about everything — including a little dress-up inspiration. We've searched for the easy, the daring, the sweet, and the scary, but haven't quite landed on THE one just yet. The countdown is on, though, so we're going back to our favorite search engine to see what everyone else seems to be interested in this holiday season.

Google Trends has released a special site for the occasion, called Frightgeist, where you can search for the most popular Halloween costumes nationally and locally. You can also view the local list in map form to better visualize what costumes are trending where. What's more: it will help you find the costume that's best for you. You can search through a "costume wizard" that allows you to adjust for spookiness level, classic or modern style, uniqueness, and by trend. Talk about thorough.

Nationally, the data supports that from Polyvore: everyone is going to dress up as Harley Quinn this year. Coming in second and third are two other similarly-themed costumes, with The Joker and a general "Superhero" in close running. You can find the full list here, whether you want to opt for the popular option, or make certain you choose something out-of-the-box so you won't be twinning with everyone at the party.

Happy shopping!
