You'll love this new eye-brightening makeup trick courtesy of Burberry

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...

After six years of covering backstage at fashion week—and experiencing total exhaustion—I thought I knew every way to brighten up my eyes and look less tired. I never travel without a beige eyeliner pencil. I always pack two concealers, one for discoloration and one for under the eyes, the latter of which has to have the word "illuminating" somewhere on the packaging. And I make sure to have a metallic bronze eyeliner pencil with some gold flecks in it, which sounds oddly specific because it is. The shiny finish and glint-y gold particles reflect the light nicely, while the bronze color helps make my blue-gray eyes look more blue. At the show for Burberry's September Collection, however, makeup artist Wendy Rowe broke out a new eye-brightening tip that will definitely have me updating my arsenal.

"Statuesque beauty" was how Rowe described the makeup look for the show, meaning she wanted the models' skin to have the smooth, satiny-matte finish of marble sculpture. To do that she used a mix of the two Burberry Beauty concealers, applying the Sheer Concealer{: rel=nofollow} under the eyes and the Creamy Concealer{: rel=nofollow} everywhere else (around the nose, down the nose, along the chin, between the brows), topping it all off with pressed powder.

But it was how she subtly defined and highlighted the eyes that caught my attention. First she traced Burberry Beauty Eye Colour Contour Pen in Roswewood{: rel=nofollow}, a shimmery antique-rose color, along the lower lash line to enhance the natural shadow cast by the lower lashes. Then she took Burberry Fresh Glow Stick in Nude Radiance{: rel=nofollow}, a pearlescent champagne highlighter, and dotted it right in the center of the lower lash line. According to Rowe, it has the same eye-brightening effect as highlighting the inner corners of your eyes; it just does it in a more natural-looking way. "If you look at someone who has really bright eyes, it's the center of the eyes that are brighter than other people's," she explained. And you don't have to go crazy and draw a big circle. Rowe simply pressed the tip of the shadow crayon onto the skin and blended a bit with her finger. Which is exactly what you'll find me doing by the end of fashion month come October.
