Four trendy looks to try this fall

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...

Hello, hello!

If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you probably know that I'm actually in New York for work right now (recap to come next week). Today is the first official day of fall and I couldn't pass that up, so I worked on this post ahead of time. As you know, I'm fall's biggest fan – like if that were a section in the encyclopedia, you would definitely see my crazy face grinning while holding a PSL, wearing a beanie and playing in the leaves simultaneously. Fall is what I live for, so it's no surprise that I've been keeping track of the trends I've been dying to try for months now.

Although there are so many trends worth trying in the fall, I've narrowed my list down to four. I picked them based on versatility amongst different styles and body types. I really think all of you ladies can pull these off! Alright, less rambling, more trend-talking – let's get into it!

I know what you're thinking – a sleeveless sweater? What's the point? These are made for fall since they're such a great layering piece. Layer it over a lightweight tee in October and a chambray shirt in November. Also, they're not hard to find right now – so you're bound to find one that fits your budget. I'm particularly partial to this Cowl Sweater Vest from Lands' End – I saw it in sample form when it was being designed and it's so cute in person (and flattering). If that's out of your price range, this one is adorable and under $20!

So I've already tried my hand at this trend and I can't believe I hadn't jumped on the ascot bandwagon sooner! Neck scarves are an instant way to make your outfit look put together and so chic! I got mine from J. Crew and it was only $12! Not bad at all, my friends. Plus, they have so many color and pattern options, you'll probably want to pick up two (or three). As a bit of a warning, you'll start to feel like a sophisticated French girl – so there may be some macaroons in your future.

Okay, so this was another trend that I just couldn't wait to try! I took the plunge and invested in J. Crew's Billie Demi Boot Crop in the Surrey Wash at the end of the summer and OH BOY am I glad that I did! These are seriously the best fitting jeans I've ever owned. They make my waist look small, my booty look...well....bootylicious, and hit at a flattering point above my ankle – which is kind of amazing considering I'm so tall. I can't get enough of them. Plus guys, almost every wash of them is on sale right now. You're welcome.

Alright, so this trend is not specific to THIS particular fall because cape coats are always perfect for autumn. Cape coats are great for layering and make an outfit on their own. If you can get a heavier weight wool, you can even transition it from fall to winter. I absolutely adore this double-breasted cape style from LOFT (above) – I like the practicality of it opening in the front and it will instantly make your jeans and long sleeve tee look so posh.
