These models are revolutionizing the fashion runway

New York Fashion Week is a time for fashion to shine on the runway.

However, some models are revolutionizing the industry and breaking barriers at NYFW.

Here are a few of those models:

Carmen Dell'Orefice
The 81-year-old is referred to as the world's oldest working model and she strut the New York Fashion Week runway twice back in 2012.

Rebekah Marine
Known as the 'bionic model' the 28-year-old was born without a right forearm, and launched the conversation about 'disabled models'.

Jack Eyres
He made history in 2015, as the first male amputee model on the runway. The 25-year-old had his leg amputated when he was 16 after a birth defect caused it to grow improperly.

Waris Ahluwalia
The Sikh actor and model is also the designer behind his own 'House of Waris' company, which collaborates with some of fashion's biggest names.

Shaholly Ayres
A congenital amputee she was the first model to walk NYFW without a prosthesis

Madeline Stuart
In 2015, the 19-year-old became the first model with Down syndrome to walk the runway.

Dr. Danielle Sheypunk
At 36 she became the first model in a wheelchair to grace the NYFW runway -- now she's working on her own clothing line.
