George and Amal Clooney 'have to pay attention' to 'security issues' with twins amid ISIS case

George and Amal Clooney have grown to be extra careful of their family's safety, especially since the human rights lawyer brought on charges against ISIS in France.

During an interview on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast this week, the "Catch-22" actor opened up about looking after his one-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, amid his wife's momentous case against the Islamic State.

"My wife is taking the first case against ISIS to court, so we have plenty of issues -- real, proper security issues -- that we have to deal with on a fairly daily basis," George explained. "We don't really want our kids to be targets, so we have to pay attention to that."

The actor added that he lives "a pretty good life. I have a beautiful wife and two beautiful kids. … [but] there are things you miss. I miss being able to walk with our kids in Central Park."

Amal's charges against ISIS in French courts is based on the terrorist group forcing women into marriage and/or sexual slavery while occupying territory in Iraq and Syria. Per USA Today, Human Rights Watch said in 2015 that the group had run a "system of organized rape and sexual assault, sexual slavery and forced marriage."

In April, the lawyer asked the UN Security Council to prosecute ISIS extremists for rape, with the council eventually passing a resolution with watered-down language.

George and Amal Clooney welcomed their first children together back in June 2017. The actor recently opened up to the "Today" show's Savannah Guthrie about his life with twins, who turn 2 next month.

"They really come out with the personalities that they’re born with. My daughter will be like, 'Sit down!' and [Alexander] will sit down," he laughed. "They’re just completely different personalities and they’re fun and smart. They already can … do all their ABCs in Italian and in English, and I can’t do that -- in English!"

"[They] put peanut butter on their shoes so that it looks like poo-poo on their shoes and stuff, and they think that’s funny," he hilariously added, noting that they're "good" and "happy kids" who "laugh a lot."

Though the couple has never posted photos of their twins and have avoided bringing them to public events, Amal was recently photographed carrying her twins in a rare public sighting.
