Meghan Markle's personal assistant suddenly quits: report

Updated

Meghan Markle may be hiring soon.

The Palace was left shocked recently when the assistant to the Duchess of Sussex reportedly quit just six months after Markle married Prince Harry.

The Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Meghan's personal assistant, Melissa, has left her post after playing an integral role in the planning of the royal wedding and, though Kensington Palace declined to comment on the report, an inside source told the outlet that it's left them in "real shock."

"Why would she want to leave such a prestigious job so soon?" the source posited.

The outlet also cited "a Palace source [who] has been authorized to pay tribute" to the former employee.

"Melissa is a hugely talented person," the source is quoted as saying. "She played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding and will be missed by everyone in the royal household."

Despite her assistant's shocking decision to quit, Meghan isn't without any help, of course. Back in February, she was given her first dedicated staffer, Amy Pickerill. Pickerill, whose official title is Assistant Private Secretary to Prince Harry, used to work for Kensington Palace's press office and now supports Meghan in public outings and any other official work she does.
