Tiffany Haddish’s ex-husband sues over abuse allegations

Tiffany Haddish’s ex-husband is suing the comedian over domestic violence claims made in her best-selling memoir.

While the “Girl’s Trip” actress never mentions him by name in “The Last Black Unicorn,” William Stewart claims that he is easily identifiable as he is the only person she’s been married to, according to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ.

He additionally denied the books claims that they were twice married and divorced — according to the court documents they tied the knot in 2008 and divorced five years later — as well as allegations that he was physically violent toward Haddish.

In her 2017 biography, the 38-year-old funny woman recalls incidents in which her ex-husband choked, kidnapped and stalked her over the course of their marriage.

Stewart, a decorated army veteran, also slammed claims that his alleged abuse prompted the death of their unborn child. He blames the loss on the fact that his ex-wife opted to have an abortion, according to the documents.

“For the defendant’s own profit, they pained my clients as abusers in a best-selling book. After a thorough review of the facts and evidence, we know that the assertions made by the defendants about my clients in ‘The Last Black Unicorn’ are patently untrue,” Stewart’s attorney told TMZ.

“Powerful people and influential corporations can’t intentionally and recklessly destroy someone’s reputation with malicious lies for their own profit. After exhausting our ability to solve this matter privately, we have been left with no choice, but to seek legal recourse. We look forward to our day in court.”

Stewart is suing the books co-author, Tucker Max, and publisher Simon & Schuster for libel, slander and defamation. He is seeking more than $1 million in damages.
