Will Ferrell rushed to hospital after SUV flips in 2-car accident

Will Ferrell was rushed to the hospital Thursday night after he was involved in a serious 2-car accident in Orange County, TMZ reports.

Ferrell was one of several people riding in an SUV around 11 PM that flipped over after being side-swiped by another car, according to witnesses. A chauffeur was driving the vehicle, and three people in total were transported to a nearby hospital. An unidentified woman with Ferrell in the SUV was "bleeding profusely."

The comedian, 50, was photographed looking alert and talking on a cell phone while being loaded by stretcher into an ambulance. He was in the car on the way back from a "Funny or Die" event near San Diego when the incident occurred on the I-5 freeway.

UPDATE: United Talent Agency has released the following statement on Ferrell's behalf:

While traveling back to Los Angeles after hosting a voter registration event in San Diego, a car carrying Will Ferrell and three of his colleagues was struck on the freeway by another vehicle. Will and his colleague, Andrew Steele, were unhurt and have been released from an Orange County hospital. Will’s longtime driver, Mark Thompson, and his other colleague Carolina Barlow, remain hospitalized in stable condition. Will is staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them. He’s also grateful for all the well wishes he and his friends are receiving.
