'Bachelor' contestant identified as woman on missing persons list

A news outlet’s investigation into missing persons in Humboldt County, California, turned up a surprising find: One of them is currently appearing on "The Bachelor."

The North Coast Journal shared its cover story on Facebook asking followers if they could identify any of Humboldt County’s current missing persons, which is how it was brought to their attention that one of the women appeared to be Bekah Martinez, currently appearing on season 22 of the ABC dating reality show.

The Journal contacted the sheriff’s office -- which contacted Martinez -- with a deputy confirming the theory.

"I just got off the phone with Rebekah," she wrote. "She is in fact the same person. She has been removed from (the Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit)."

A Public Information Officer told the Journal that Martinez’s mother had reported her missing back in November after not having heard from her in several days. Her daughter had gone to Humboldt County to "work on a marijuana farm."

The missing person report even overlaps with Martinez’s Bachelor profile, including having two tattoos on her ankles.

Martinez jokingly responded to the report on Twitter after the news broke.

"MOM. how many times do I have to tell you I don’t get cell service on The Bachelor??" she tweeted. "Honestly the scariest thing about this story is that my efforts to conceal The Worst Drivers License Photo Of All Time have been thwarted."
