Royals react to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged!

The Prince of Wales announced the engagement on Monday morning, with Kensington Palace confirming that their wedding is scheduled for the spring of 2018.

Harry and Meghan stepped out a few hours after the announcement was made for their official engagement photo call, and they looked happy as ever as they posed for photographers and Markle showed off her engagement ring, which Harry designed.

In the initial announcement, Clarence House declared that Prince Charles was "delighted" to announce the news, while noting that Harry had "informed" Queen Elizabeth of the news and "received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents."

"We're thrilled," Prince Charles said in a second statement on behalf of himself and the Duchess of Cornwall. "We're both thrilled. We hope they'll be very happy indeed."

As for Harry's brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, they called the news "wonderful" in a statement of their own.

"We are very excited for Harry and Meghan," they said. "It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."

Markle's parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, also reacted to the news through a statement.

"We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry," it read. "Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents."

"We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together," they finished.
