'Family Guy' joked about Kevin Spacey over a decade ago

Seth MacFarlane appeared to joke about another Hollywood scandal long before it was public knowledge.

A clip from a 2005 episode of his animated comedy series "Family Guy" resurfaced after actor Anthony Rapp accused Kevin Spacey making a sexual advance toward him when he was 14.

In the "Family Guy" clip, the infant character Stewie runs naked through a crowd and yells: "Help! I've escaped from Kevin Spacey's basement!"

MacFarlane has not commented on the scene since the Spacey allegations emerged, and a request for comment was not immediately returned by his representatives.

Rapp came forward with his allegations against Spacey in an article published Sunday by Buzzfeed, claiming the "House of Cards" actor placed him on a bed and climbed on top of him in 1986.

"He was trying to seduce me," Rapp told Buzzfeed.

Spacey issued a statement saying he didn't remember the event but says he owes Rapp an apology "if I did behave then as he describes."

Spacey, 58, came out as gay in that same statement.

"I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man," he wrote in the message posted to Twitter. "I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior."

Earlier this month, video of MacFarlane joking about Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual misconducttoward women in 2013 began to surface the internet after numerous women came forward with allegations against Weinstein.

That joke — which MacFarlane made while introducing Oscars nominees for best supporting actress — involved the sitcom creator congratulating the women while saying they "no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein."

MacFarlane has since said that one-liner, which earned a laugh from the audience despite the allegations not being known publicly at the time, was inspired by the experiences of his friend Jessica Barth, who claims Weinstein made an unwanted advance toward her in a hotel room in 2011.

"I couldn't resist the opportunity to take a hard swing in his direction," MacFarlane said in an Oct. 11 statement. "Make no mistake, this came from a place of loathing and anger."
