Outside Lands Saturday recap: Metallica delivers heart-stopping two-hour set

There are performances, and then there are performances.

Unsurprisingly, Metallica nailed the latter during their Outside Lands set on Saturday (Aug. 12), which lasted more than two hours and featured classics old and new.

Fans at Golden Gate Park were treated to a lengthy encore punctuated with fireworks as the band ultimately closed out with the never-gets-old "Enter Sandman." Notably, the band's self-titled album, known as "The Black Album," dropped and debuted at #1 exactly 26 years ago, on Aug. 12, 1991.

Other notable performances came from Empire of the Sun, Vance Joy and Cage the Elephant as festival-goers rounded out day two of the annual event.

The third and final day features headliners Lorde and The Who. You can stream it live right here.
