'Bachelor' alum Leah Block apologizes for racially charged tweet, accepts responsibility for 'ignorance'

"Bachelor" alum Leah Block has gone into apology mode, after angering fans with an insensitive tweet about the current season of "The Bachelorette."

In a lengthy Facebook post published Wednesday, Block apologized for the tweet, writing, "I accept responsibility for my ignorance."

"The tweet came from a place that humored the failure of representation of minorities in reality TV and belittled the significance of Rachel's (Lindsay) presence on the show," the reality TV veteran wrote. "I acknowledge that entertaining this kind of humor is a passive and careless action that stifles the progress the black community has made in television and continue to make in this industry."

Though Block has since deleted the tweet, US Weekly reports that she wrote of show, which features Rachel Lindsay, the first-ever black Bachelorette, "I'm sitting here watching @BacheloretteABC and my roommate just sat down on the couch and said, 'What is this? @LoveAndHipHop_? DEAD."

Lindsay herself shot back in a reply to the tweet, "Let me know if she wants to meet Lee ... they sound like they would have a lot in common #ihavetimetoday."

That would be an apparent reference to "Bachelorette" contestant Lee Garrett, who's been accused of firing off a racially-charged tweet or two of his own.

In her apology, Block wrote, "Our Society should have no place for hate that targets any minority group. We can't make the future better until we make ourselves better. And I'm starting now."

She concluded, "Best of luck to Rachel and her suitors this season."
