Amy Schumer splits from boyfriend Ben Hanisch after a year and a half of dating

Updated

Amy Schumer and her boyfriend of a year and a half, Chicago-based furniture designer Ben Hanisch, have split, her rep confirmed Tuesday.

The two had been together since 2015, when they met on a dating app. Hanisch was by her side at the Golden Globes earlier this year, but he was noticeably absent from per "Snatched" premiere on May 10.

Just days earlier, on May 3, Schumer confirmed to Howard Stern that the two were still together -- but her response was lukewarm when the host asked if they'd been talking about marriage: "We are talking about today," she said. "I love the idea of committing to someone and making that choice and I want to have a family but right now, we aren't in talks."

Schumer last shared a photo with Hanisch in March, but it wasn't a new shot. The picture had been taken in January on the night of the Golden Globes, which they attended together.

In August 2016, Schumer told Marie Claire that although she's dated other men, Hanisch was "the first guy who's really been my boyfriend."

"Being in love is the scariest thing in the world," she said in the same interview. "You want to f--king cry and scream. I can't handle it. Every time we say good-bye, I think, 'This will have been a nice last week together.' Or I tell myself nothing is real and he's going to leave me and tell me he never loved me. I feel so bad for him. How exhausting it must be dating me."

The comedienne has also said during interviews that she has complicated views on relationships, in large part because both of her parents have been married three times. Her 2015 film "Trainwreck," which she wrote, was about a young woman who struggles with commitment due to her parents' messy divorce.
