'Flip or Flop' star Tarek El Moussa reveals he also battled testicular cancer

It's Tarek El Moussa's turn to tell his side of the story.

The "Flip or Flop" star sat down with Joe Fryer on the "Today" show on Tuesday, where he discussed his headline-making split from wife Christina and his cancer battle.

The HGTV couple's relationship reportedly reached its breaking point during a May 2016 incident that ended with police being called into their home.

According to officials, police responded to a call of a "possibly suicidal male with a gun." Reports revealed that Tarek, 35, tried to take his own life, but he repeatedly denied the claims while talking with Fryer.

"'No, no, no. Never. Never. Absolutely never."

Tarek said he took the gun to protect himself from wildlife while hiking the Chino Hills State Park Main Ridge Trail in California.

"There's mountain lions, bobcats and rattlesnakes and big wildlife back there. I went out for a hike to scout some trails, it wasn't even a big deal," explained El Moussa.

Since announcing their breakup in January, Tarek has been dodging rumors about his marriage.

The father-of-two had a rumored fling with his children's nanny, who was 23 at the time, and then moved on to her friend, a source told Us Weekly.

Before his marriage began to crumble, El Moussa was diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a viewer noticed a lump during a "Flip or Flop" episode. He revealed to Fryer that shortly after his 2013 diagnosis, he was also told he had testicular cancer.

"Dealing with thyroid cancer was hard enough and then a few weeks later finding out I had testicular cancer, I literally thought I was going to die," he emotionally admitted.

He revealed that he wasn't ready to go public with all his health issues at the time, but his stepfather has recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer so he wants to create awareness.

"For me the main reason I am coming out is to create awareness and I know that when I came out with thyroid cancer, a lot of people found out they also had thyroid cancer, so it's something I had to do."

Tarek and Christina are still filming "Flip or Flop" together, so it's clear the two are trying to keep their business and private lives as separate as they can. In a "Good Morning American" interview that also aired on Tuesday, Christina revealed that their business and two children remain a priority.

"In the end we're just normal, nice people who just want to be the best parents and coworkers that we can be. We have so much fun on set and we look forward to continuing the show."
