Watch Little Big Town perform Taylor Swift-penned 'Better Man' at CMA Awards 2016

Country quartet Little Big Town took their latest single "Better Man" straight to the, well, country for the 2016 CMA Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 2).

The stripped-down ballad made headlines Tuesday when Little Big Town revealed that it was written by country-turned-pop superstar Taylor Swift. "She sent us this song, and it was one that was really special to her," LBT's Karen Fairchild said. "She thought of us because of the harmonies. She's never pitched a song to anyone before, and the minute we heard it, we were like 'Man, that is a song that we're going to cut.'"

For the 50th-anniversary awards show, Little Big Town transformed the stage into a pastoral paradise to sing the wistful song, with wheat waving at their feet and a prairie wind blowing through their hair.

At the same press conference where their secret songwriter was unveiled, Little Big Town also announced six dates at Nashville's vaunted Ryman Auditorium -- the venue's very first residency.

In an Instagram photo Tuesday, Swift told fans how "honored" she was that Little Big Town chose to record her song and wished them luck at the CMAs.
