'SNL' castmember Pete Davidson says Kid Cudi's music saved his life

In an interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Pete Davidson from Saturday Night Live reveals that he would have killed himself if he didn't grow up with Kid Cudi's music.

After he was asked to choose between Drake or Kid Cudi, Davidson chose Cudi because of how important his music was to him during a darker time in his life. "If you're 25 and under, I truly believe that Kid Cudi saved your life."

"I would've killed myself," he continues. "Absolutely. 100 percent. I truly believe if Man on the Moon didn't come out, I wouldn't be here."

Cudi himself announced earlier this month that he was checking himself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges.

Davidson believes that if Cudi revealed his own struggles earlier, it would have been a way to relate to him even more. "It's kind of comforting to know your hero goes through the same stuff you do."

"I've been in and out of things like that and I think that's why a lot of kids my age can relate to Cudi," Davidson says. "People love him so much 'cause he's a very emotional dude and he saves all of us."

Davidson said that he has been in contact with Cudi since he went to rehab and that the rapper is "in really good spirits." He and Cudi became friends when he reached out to him to tell him that he was a fan after he was cast on SNL. Cudi later recorded promos for Davidson's Comedy Central special SMD.
