Alex Trebek faces backlash after calling nerdcore hip-hop fans 'losers' on 'Jeopardy!'

"Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek went in for the burn and came away with a bunch of angry fanboys when he made fun of a contestant's favorite music genre on Wednesday evening's show.

"Your favorite type of music is something I've never heard of, but it doesn't sound like fun," Trebek said to librarian Susan Cole.

Cole then began describing her favorite genre of music, Nerdcore, to which Trebek replied less than enthusiastically.

"[Nerdcore is] rapping about the things they love," Cole said. "Video games, science-fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners. It's really catchy and fun."

After an antagonizing sigh, Trebek replied, "Losers, in other words" before following up to say he was "teasing."

Cole laughed it off and walked away victorious: she beat out the competition with $22,600 and will return for Thursday night's show.

Still, fans to the game show were not amused.

"I remember when Alex Trebek liked his job and was nice to the contestants. Now he hates everyone, poor guy," one person tweeted.

"Imagine finally passing the Jeopardy test and becoming a contestant and showing up and then Trebek's all like 'LOOK AT THIS LOSER.'"

"Pat Sajak would never treat people that way. #jeopardy#nerdcore."

"Alex Trebek of #Jeopardy calling nerds "losers" is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard. Those 'losers' GIVE YOU A JOB."

"Alex Trebek is 76 years old. He's never been, what you call, 'cool'. Think of how many people have heard about Nerdcore now. THAT's cool."
