OnlyOnAOL: All of Emmy queen Sarah Paulson's beauty secrets

By: Donna Freydkin

It takes a lot to outshine that stunning, plunging Prada gown.

But Emmy winner Sarah Paulson sure managed it on Sunday night, with a little help from makeup artist Adam Breuchaud.

"We all thought it was such a moment. The dress is such a moment," says Breuchaud. (See our interview with her costar and fellow Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown above).

Breuchaud says he's "honored to call her my friend. I try not to give into that myth of celebrity. With her, it's pretty normal. We hang out and discuss the work and catch up with each other. It's a normal experience. She's funny and intelligent, what you'd expect."

She was the favorite to win, for playing Marcia Clark in "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story," acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. Next up, she plays Oscar-winning actress Geraldine Page in the FX series "Feud," from Ryan Murphy, about the battle between movie stars Joan Crawford and Bette Davis; the series costars Susan Sarandon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Jessica Lange.

Her career is on fire, and she was predicted to go home with an Emmy. "But we didn't talk about it. That's an added pressure. I try to just go and be happy and joke around and talk about what my clients want to talk about," says Breuchaud.

Instead, he focused on making Paulson absolutely glow on the red carpet.

"The dress is the standout stunner. The earrings are crazy expensive. We wanted to do something that was just as luxurious and deserving of a red carpet without taking away the focus from the dress and her night. That's what I hope what we did. We achieved an amazing eye, that was smoky without being overbearing. We did a bare lip," he says.

Paulson brought Clark as her date and apologized to her in a passionate, sweet speech.

But first, they had to weather the red carpet. The temps were overbearingly hot. So, says Breuchaud, "I used a primer on her face first. That's a huge thing. The Giorgio Armani primer is the best. It helps the makeup last and stay all day. What we did was use the fluid sheers. It gave her that glow where you want the glow."
