Amy Winehouse may be gone, but her eclectic soul and powerful vocals will never be forgotten.

The GRAMMY-winning English songwriter, who died of alcohol poisoning at her London home on July 23, 2011, would have turned 33 on Wednesday. In honor of her special day, one of her biggest fans, Adele, took to social media to honor the late "Rehab" singer.

"Happy Birthday Amy X," the 28-year-old pop star captioned a pic of Winehouse, who was rocking a faux fur jacket and flashing a bright smile.

Fans were quick to comment on the throwback snap, writing things like, "Happy birthday to the queen of music -- such a beautiful soul," "What a lovely photo @adele, miss Amy, such a gift gone too early," and "Legend Amy, she lives on through her music."

Adele has been very vocal about how much she idolizes the soul/R&B/jazz powerhouse, crediting Winehouse for being the inspiration behind her decision to start writing music back in 2008 during an interview with Vice's i-D last November.

"If it wasn't for Amy and [her debut album] Frank, 100 percent I wouldn't have picked up a guitar, I wouldn't have written 'Daydreamer' or 'Hometown' and I wrote 'Someone Like You' on the guitar too," she dished.

Even though she and Winehouse were never close friends (Adele says they "didn't really know each other"), they did attend Brit School together briefly and the "Hello" singer "adored" her.

"A million percent, if I hadn't heard Frank this wouldn't have happened," Adele said of her music career. "I loved [Amy] and I went through my own massive grieving process as her fan."

Adele also told the outlet she had finally "got to a place where I felt really great about the impact she'd had on my life, in every way," when a documentary, titled Amy, was released in July 2015.

"I wasn't going to [see it]," Adele explained, adding she "got super emotional" watching footage from the funeral. "I wasn't really that into the saved voicemails and stuff like that. I felt like I was intruding, so I actually felt a little bit uncomfortable and that ruined it for me."

"I love watching her, but I kind of wish I hadn't seen it," she continued. "But you know, I love Amy. I always have, I always will. Do you know what makes me super sad? That I'm never going to hear her voice again, other than how I've heard it."

That same month, Adele also got candid about Winehouse while chatting with Rolling Stone. "I'm really frightened of [fame]," she admitted. "I think it's really toxic, and I think it's really easy to be dragged into it."
