Samantha Bee criticizes 'human Splenda' Matt Lauer's moderating of Commander-in-Chief Forum

Samantha Bee returned from her hiatus with fighting words for Matt Lauer.

The Full Frontal host joined in on the criticism of Lauer's performance as moderator of last week's Commander-in-Chief forum.

Bee addressed Lauer's focus on Hillary Clinton's email scandal in his questions. "C'mon Matt," said Bee. "Do you really think there's an email-smoking gun that the Inspector General, a House committee, the FBI and 18 months of nonstop news coverage couldn't find that will be magically uncovered from a human Splenda whose journalistic triumph is having no idea where the f— he is?" added Bee, referring to Lauer's "Where in the World" segment.

"Swallow your irritation, girl," said Bee, addressing Clinton after Lauer told her to be quick with an answer about national security. "You'll be glad Matt Lauer is there if you slip and fall off of the Intrepid." Bee cut to coverage of Lauer dressed as a female Baywatch lifeguard for Halloween, a favorite of late-night comedians poking fun at his turn as moderator.

"Maybe this Halloween he can dress up as a journalist," she said.

Bee moved on to making fun of Donald Trump. "I bet the veterans have some things they'd like to ask a draft-dodging, Gold Star family-insulting, war-crimes advocating, torture-phile whose worst Vietnam flashbacks involve scrambling for the last place out of gonorrhea," she said.

Coverage of a veteran asking Trump how he was going to "stop 20 veterans a day from killing themselves" rolled. Trump corrected the veteran saying, "Actually it's 22." The veteran gave a quiet head shake at his calculation.

"Shut up, that veteran was correct. And that tiny polite head shake she gave was more fact-checking than Matt Lauer did in the entire 30 minutes that Trump spent bullshitting, bluffing and gleefully babbling about classified security briefings," said Bee.
