Botched cosmetic procedure leaves woman disfigured

One woman has been left with a blind eye and collapsed forehead after her common beauty procedure went wrong.

In 2009, Florida's Carol Bryan decided to get dermal injections in a forehead. However, the fillers were inserted incorrectly, causing her forehead to swell up so much that she couldn't see.

'I started doing Botox in my 30s for the vertical lines between my eyes. It was amazing. It took years off my face," she said on television show The Doctors. But, "there came a point in time where I felt I was losing some volume. I went for a consultation. I was persuaded to have fillers."

The doctors injected her with silicone, which is not recommended by other doctors. But a few months later, Carol's face began swelling, "'expanding and contracting".

"My forehead was becoming so heavy it started to affect my ability to see. I began to have to tape my eyes open to walk," she explained.

Carol was so self-conscious of her "disfigured" face that she "secluded" herself from her friends, family and the public for years.

Only one doctor agreed to help Carol, who after a series of risky reconstruction surgeries, helped her feel normal again. "I want to make sure this didn't happen to me in vain. I will work tirelessly not to let this happen to anyone again," she said.
