10 outfits that prove Meghan Markle is ready for royalty

Updated

Move over, Kate Middleton—there's a new stylish commoner coming for the crown, and her name is Meghan Markle. We've known the confirmed girlfriend of Prince Harry for a little while from her stellar work as Rachel Zane on the beloved USA network show Suits, but since the world's caught wind of her romance with the young royal, she's gotten the full Duchess Catherine treatment of being followed everywhere she goes. And even when caught off her guard, whether she's promoting the newest season of her show or living her best life between NYC and shooting in Canada, Markle manages to nail the look of a royal-in-waiting.

When William and Kate were courting, what made the public believe in the potential for having a non-royal rise to the throne? The fact that Kate looked the part, embodying all the grace and elegance of a classic royal, made modern by contemporary labels. Markle represents a prime candidate for the same reasons: she's poised and beautiful in many traditional ways, but doesn't look like she's reincarnated from a page in a history book (read: tired, outdated). She even recently designed a capsule collection for Canadian clothier Reitmans, for which she's also the spokeswoman. Needless to say she knows what's up in the style department. Need proof? Behold ten incredibly chic instances (before she and Prince Harry were a confirmed couple) where we saw what will soon be known as "Meghan Markle style" in its infancy.
