Reba McEntire drops new single 'Softly and Tenderly' from her faith-based album

Reba McEntire just dropped a new single off of her upcoming LP Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope, a two-disc set coming February 3rd.

The singer and actress enlisted the help of her good friend Trisha Yearwood and daughter-in-law, Kelly Clarkson, for the debut single "Softly and Tenderly," but the whole album is a family and friend affair.

McEntire debuted the new project on Thursday and revealed that the gospel album was co-produced by Rascal Flatts' member Jay DeMarcus and band leader/musical director Doug Sisemore in DeMarcus' home studio. McEntire's mother and sisters of the Oklahoma-born superstar join her on the album.

The first single has gospel roots and McEntire soulfully sings about Jesus alongside Clarkson and Yearwood. During the difficult past couple of years where McEntire and her husband of 26 years, Narvel Blackstock, split, McEntire says she turned to her faith.

"I have a long list and so many questions for God. Why did this happen? And how did you allow that?" she said in an interview with Taste of Country. "Over the last two years I've been going through a divorce. God's way is the best way. And it seems to me that Narvel is happier and I'm in a really good state of mind. It's taken me this time to pull through why and how. And there's been a lot between us and I believe that to forgive is easier than forget."

"I can never forget some of what he did," the superstar revealed. "But going on with life is what's really important. And my faith helped me with that. I think about what God wants me to do. I focus on that. Faith is really important. It keeps me sane and it keeps me hopeful."
