Report: RNC Christmas party to be held at Trump hotel

There could be a potential controversy brewing over the venue for the Republican National Committee's Christmas party this year.

The Huffington Post has reportedly confirmed through two inside sources that the organization is planning to host the event in Washington, D.C. at the Trump International Hotel.

The location is, in fact, the same one Donald Trump veered off the campaign trail to officially open in October.

Sources are said to have indicated that the party will be "...a more exclusive and celebratory affair this year owing to the unexpected election victories enjoyed by the party this November."

However, as the Huffington Post points out, using the Trump hotel as a venue could promote conflict-of-interest allegations, which the businessman has increasingly faced since he was elected president.

Perhaps in response to critics, the president-elect tweeted last month that he plans to hold a press conference on December 15 to talk about leaving his companies.

However, the New York Times reported on Wednesday, "President-elect Donald J. Trump is considering formally turning over the operational responsibility for his real estate company to his two adult sons, but he intends to keep a stake in the business and resist calls to divest, according to several people briefed on the discussions."
