Wildlife-tracking camera captures eerie activity on video

Talk about things that go bump in the night ...

When reports of a mountain lion lurking around Celebration Park in Gardner, Kansas, began to roll in, the local police department announced that they would be installing surveillance cameras in the area.

"In an effort to determine if there was a possibly dangerous animal in the area we deployed two trail cameras to check for activity in the area," it wrote on Facebook. "We are glad to report that over the time they were up we did not see a mountain lion.

However, while they did not capture any evidence of a ferocious feline, they did find something even more interesting -- namely, people dressed in various costumes, from demons to gorillas, frolicking in the area.

The Gardner Police Department posted some of the spooky images on its Facebook page on November 28, to seek "help" in "attempting to identify some of the wildlife and activity in these images."

Since they were posted, the photos have been shared over 3,600 times and racked up more than 4,500 reactions.

The Gardner Police Department even took the time to thank the good-hearted pranksters in its now-viral post.

"We would like to sincerely thank the persons responsible as it made our day when we pulled up what we expected to be hundreds of pictures of coyotes, foxes and raccoons," it wrote. "Thank you to the citizens who noticed the cameras. Your effort and sense of humor are greatly appreciated."
