Playboy Playmate Dani Mathers pleads not guilty in bodyshaming gym photo case

Dani Mathers is ready for legal battle.

Playboy Playmate Mathers, who was charged earlier this month with invasion of privacy for allegedly photographing a nude woman at her gym and then posting it with a mocking caption on social media, pleaded not guilty during her arraignment Monday, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney told TheWrap.

Mathers' pretrial date is scheduled for Dec. 21. If convicted, she could receive up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Mathers is accused of secretly photographing a 70-year-old woman in the shower area at an L.A. Fitness gym, then posting it to social media.

Mathers' troubles began on July 14, when she posted the photo of the nude woman on Snapchat with the caption, "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."

The model did not say what about the woman's appearance she found objectionable.

Mathers subsequently apologized, but that failed to sway her many detractors on social media.

L.A. Fitness banned her from its gyms, and Mathers was fired from her gig at Los Angeles radio station KLOS, where she appeared as a regular on the station's morning show.

Mathers' attorney Thomas Mesereau has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment on the not guilty plea. However, Mesereau previously stated that Mathers "never tried to hurt anyone."

"I hope the rumors are not true. Dani Mathers never tried to hurt anyone at any time and certainly never tried to break the law," Mesereau said in September.
