Trump says son-in-law could facilitate Middle East peace

President-elect Donald Trump met with staffers from The New York Times on Tuesday and reportedly indicated that he believes his son-in-law could be instrumental in helping to resolve Middle East conflicts.

The media outlet's Washington Bureau Chief, Elisabeth Bumiller, tweeted, "Trump [said] Jared Kushner could help make peace between the Israelis and Palestinians."

Meanwhile, her colleague Maggie Haberman wrote on Twitter about the president-elect, "I asked PEOTUS what role he sees Kushner playing. Indicates formal role unlikely but he could be a player on Mideast peace."

A USA Today report points out that "Kushner is an Orthodox Jew and Trump's daughter Ivanka converted to Judaism before they were married."

In terms of the long-running Middle East conflict in general, Trump is quoted by the Wall Street Journal as saying, "As a deal maker, I'd like to do...the deal that can't be made. And do it for humanity's sake."
