Watch Live: Election night 2016 results

After four debates, months of campaign rhetoric and lots of tweeting, America will choose its next commander in chief today -- bringing to a close the most contentious political election cycle in modern U.S. history.

As presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump await results, all eyes will be fixed on key battleground states, the electoral map and exit polls as American voters turn out to their respective polling locations throughout the day.

Both the Democratic presidential nominee and her billionaire businessman opponent are set to host election night parties in New York City -- Clinton at the Javits Convention Center and Trump at the New York Midtown Hotel. And both are expected to give speeches -- one victory and perhaps one concession -- during the course of the vening.

In addition to the presidential election, key Senate and House races will determine whether Democrats regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives or Republicans maintain their congressional stronghold.
