Obama tries to talk America off a ledge in special election night address

Updated

In case you're just tuning in right now, people are very stressed out about this election and have taken to social media to express their deep concerns.

In light of the apparent wide-spread panic, President Barack Obama shared some dad-like words of wisdom about the current -- and future -- state of the union with BuzzFeed News on Tuesday night.

"This has been an exhausting, stressful and sometimes downright weird election for all of us," POTUS began. "But here's what I want everybody to know: While we've certainly seen some new things this time around, what isn't new is that our democracy has always been rowdy and raucous."

"We've been through tough and divisive elections before and we've always come out stronger for it," he continued. "That's what makes America special, the idea that while progress isn't guaranteed, each of us has the power to choose our path, not just on nights like this, but everyday in between. It is a beautiful and fragile gift and we should treat it that way."

And though many of us may be in panic watching the poll numbers slowly roll in, Obama says he has no doubt about the bright future of our country.

"Have a good night everybody," he ended. "And remember, no matter what happens, the sun will rise in the morning and America will still be the greatest nation on earth."
