Prisoners get out of jail for papal Mass at Vatican

In the Catholic Church's Jubilee year of mercy, Pope Francis wants to lead by example.

And at a special Mass in St. Peters Basilica on Sunday, the Pontiff chose to direct his holy efforts at prisoners from around the world.

Go inside the Jubilee Mass:

"Mercy, as the expression of God's love, is something we need to think about more deeply," Pope Francis said.

The Vatican says about 1,000 prisoners - most from Italian jails and many of them foreigners - came to Rome for the day.

The Pope urged society to give them another chance.

"There's a certain hypocrisy where we don't think about the possibility that people can change their lives. We put little trust in rehabilitation, in the reintegration into society," he added.

During the Mass, Francis also called for improved jail conditions and more clemency... messages of mercy in this Jubilee year.
