National Fail League: The biggest flops from Week 8

Updated

Another NFL Sunday is in the books. And while plenty of teams had reason to celebrate, there were just as many people around football that would love a mulligan.

Browns fans

Fans coordinating cool messages through signs and even clothing has been one of sports' better trends over recent years, but leave it to Browns fans for messing it all up.

The Browns losing isn't exactly news, but in Week 8 at home against the dysfunctional Jets, they had their best chance yet. Cleveland led New York by two scores at the half, but gave up 24 unanswered points before tacking on a meaningless touchdown late.

They just weren't used to playing with a lead.

Dustin Hopkins

English football fans are accustomed to seeing ties, but Washington and Cincinnati's 27-27 draw was a result of some more futility from NFL kickers.

With 2:13 left in the overtime period, Dustin Hopkins lined up for a routine 34-yarder to win the game -- and failed miserably. It didn't result in a loss, but no player on Washington was satisfied with the result.

Washington PR guy

Tony Wyllie is Washington's senior vice president of communications. He has a strong distaste for players giving interviews on the field -- as evidenced in the video above, and by this stunt from 2014.

Players giving interviews is usually good. It seemed like Hopkins was about to open up and give a raw, uncut version of the story, which fans want. But Washington had a different opinion.

Bills Mafia

Bills fans almost never disappoint when it comes to pulling ridiculous stunts, but rarely do those stunts ever spill onto the actual football field. That changed on Sunday, when one fan hurled an object onto the field, just feet away from a tackle. And, yes, that object is exactly what you think it is.

You should never throw anything on the field, but most people involved seemed to get a kick out of it. You win this time, Bills Mafia.
