Sweet rescue pig will wow you with his surfing skills

Updated

When an orphaned piglet trotted through Kai Holt's campsite, his life changed forever.

After spending a few days with the animal during his trip, Holt couldn't bear to leave the lonely piglet by himself on Bellows Beach in Waimanalo, Hawaii. He decided to take the animal home and named him Kamapua'a -- Kama for short.

A few weeks later, Kama accidentally fell into Holt's backyard pool while playing with his three children.

"He started swimming like a little motorized boat," Holt told The Dodo.

Soon Kama was swimming all the time -- and he even started hopping up on Holt's paddleboard during trips to the local beach. The little guy was hitting the waves like a pro!

Kama certainly turns heads on the beach with lots of people stopping to snap photos of the incredible surfing pig.

"Everywhere he goes he just makes people smile and laugh," Holt told Hawaii News Now. "He just brings joy to the world."

Kama has had an incredible impact on Holt's life. The doting pig dad became a vegetarian and even opened up a small sanctuary for rescued animals.

And now, Kama is passing on his athletic skills to future generations. That's right, Kama's very own son and granddaughter, appropriately named Kama 2 and Kama 3, are hitting the waves too.
