Rose McGowan tweets she was raped by top Hollywood executive: 'It is time for some Goddamned honesty'
In a series of provocative tweets, outspoken feminist actress turned filmmaker and activist Rose McGowan has declared she was raped by a powerful Hollywood executive — and, by process of deduction, left industry insiders narrowing down to whom she was referring.
The statements came amid a swirling public debate about sexual assault allegations facing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Several accusers have offered detailed accounts of unwelcome advances by the Republican presidential candidate in recent days. The discussion has triggered a more all-encompassing national dialogue about what's been termed "rape culture." This follows former Fox News personalities Gretchen Carlson and Andrea Tantaros' claims about network head Roger Ailes' alleged harassment toward them, which triggered his departure in August.
Using the trending #WhyWomenDontReport hashtag, McGowan posted on Thursday evening that she'd attempted to have her alleged rapist brought to justice. She wrote, "A (female) criminal attorney said because I'd done a sex scene in a film I would never win against the studio head."

McGowan continued, "It's been an open secret in Hollywood/Media & they shamed me while adulating my rapist," before all but naming her attacker. She finished by stating: "It is time for some goddamned honesty in this world."
The statements have been liked and retweeted several hundred times.
The Hollywood Reporter reached out to McGowan, who has not responded to a request for further comment.
