16 foreign countries that Americans move to most frequently

If you have ever uttered the words 'I am moving to Canada if Trump or Hillary wins,' then you might want to consider Mexico as an option too.

According to the Migrant Policy Institution, as of mid-2015, there were over 877,000 Americans living in Mexico. Mexico makes up by far the biggest portion of Americans emigrants, while Canada is second with 343,000.

The election results are contentious enough that even MapQuest is offering a grand prize of $10,000 to help assist a winner with the transition to the Great White North to escape a possible commander-in-chief.

Even though the most Americans immigrate to these countries, that does not necessarily mean they are the easiest places to gain citizenship or a working visa.

If you are ready to pick and move on election night just as the final results come in, you may consider moving to Svalbard.
