Dozens of Dead Sea scroll fragments may have been discovered

Updated

Over 25 previously unpublished fragments of the "Dead Sea Scroll" have been depicted in two new books.

The scroll fragments collected over the years contain verses from various books in the Hebrew bible.

But the newly revealed fragments may contain the first known passages from the book of Nehemiah if authenticated.

The scroll was first found in the caves of the Judean Desert which is near the Dead Sea.

Although Live Science reports that over 70 new fragments have been discovered since 2002, scholars worry that some of the fragments are forgeries.

The 25 new fragments have been purchased by two separate collectors and are currently being tested and analyzed as to their authenticity.
