Marchesa Fall 2017 bridal embodies the romance of a Greek goddess

There are some names in fashion that are synonymous with pure elegance and glamour -- and Marchesa is one of them.

The line from designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig is time and again one that dazzles its audience and sends them home floating on a chiffon-and-lace sparkly cloud. You see this with their runway collections, and it's no surprise that it follows through to bridal as well.

"Keren and I were looking at Greek Goddesses in part for our runway show this spring," Georgina Chapman told us backstage, "and we just thought it lent itself so well to bridal. A woman really wants to be a Goddess on her day, so we brought in some of those ideas."

Walking through the bridal presentation, which was fabulously presented in a bright, open studio in New York, you couldn't help but feel that goddess element flowing throughout.

"We translated that feeling with sheernesses, and we took some of that lingerie feel from the runway collection that we just showed and translated that into a more bridal way," Keren Craig said.

As for the subtle pops of blush, nude and other deviations from your classic white bridal dress, the women of Marchesa assure us it's a trend that isn't going anywhere any time soon. Chapman told us that their brides want something "a little different from the usual bridal gown," and Craig agreed, "it's something we've played around with in our mainline collections for quite some time, and it's definitely something that we've wanted to move into bridal. And for us it, working."

"We love playing with the different colored linings and the blushes -- it's fun!"

It is fun -- and it's gorgeous. Leave it to Marchesa to kick off Bridal Market's first day, setting the bar as high as ever.
