Chrissy Teigen sets Twitter account to private: 'My body & mind cannot handle it anymore'

Chrissy Teigen has had enough of the vile comments spewed at her every day on Twitter.

The model, TV host and best-selling author, who has more than 2.8 million followers, is a prolific Twitter user who often comments on social and political issues. And because of that, she often has to spar with those who don't agree with her or attack her for being a celebrity with an opinion.

When asked by a follower if she switched the settings on her account, Teigen responded, "Yeah. Not strong enough anymore."

Now, no one new can follow Teigen unless she approves the user. Nothing changed for those who already follow. Odds are good that a decent-sized portion of the trolling was coming from those who didn't even follow her.

"It's not haters or trolls or generally mean people. I just feel like I am absorbing bad shit 24/7. My body and mind cannot handle it anymore," Teigen tweeted.

Teigen, wife of musician John Legend, has been a lightning rod for trolls as an outspoken critic of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, but the hate was kicked up another notch this week when Teigen criticized those who made light of Kim Kardashian reportedly being bound, gagged and robbed at gunpoint in a Paris hotel room.

"Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets," she tweeted.
