Watch: 9-year-old cancer patient Kellen McCord has inspirational message for Notre Dame quarterbacks

Nine-year-old Kellen McCord, who is battling stage IV neuroblastoma, became an honorary Notre Dame quarterback last month.

Yesterday, Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Mike Sanford shared a recorded message from McCord. The young Irish fan addresses the "Red Army" of ND signal callers, and tells them don't give up on the season.

Notre Dame is 1-3, but perhaps Kellen's words will provide inspiration.

This kid is truly special. We continue to wish him the absolute best as he deals with a horrific illness.

As for Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish get their first chance to turn things around this Saturday against Syracuse at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Kickoff is set for noon on ESPN.
