Police officer drives grieving man to his family instead of arresting him

Mark E. Ross is admittedly weary of police officers, but he said this one gives him hope.

Ross had found out he lost his 15-year-old sister in a car accident at 3:00am. He immediately started the road trip from Indiana to Detroit -- but was pulled over in Ohio.

He had a misdemeanor warrant out for his arrest. Instead of arrest him, however, Sgt. David Robison decided to drive him to Detroit.

Ross posted about the event on Facebook:

Ross broke down in front of Robison, telling him that his sister had passed away and he needed to see his mother. Robison then prayed over him, and offered to drive him himself.

Ross spoke to Inside Edition about Robison's good deed. "It was just so overwhelming," he said. "They were trying to help us."

The post has gone viral, receiving almost 100,000 shares. Ross' family has since set up a GoFundMe page to fund the funeral, and actually invited Robison to the services.

"Everybody knows how much I dislike cops but I am truly greatful [sic] for this guy," Ross said. "He gave me hope."
