Clinton looked for attention while Trump wanted to show power, body language expert says

Despite what the pundits or polls say, the presidential candidates' temperament at Monday night's debate was on display in their body language, starting right at the opening handshake.

Body language expert Tonya Reiman analyzed the debates and looked at the expressions of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as they went at each other at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.

As soon as they shook hands to start the debate, Clinton pivoted away from Trump to give herself "some of the attention," Reiman said.

Reiman added that Clinton showed a "sign of disrespect because she doesn't look directly at him."

Trump, however, tried to show he was the top gun by patting her on the back after the handshake.

"After he shakes her hand, he taps her on the back and that says, 'hey, I am the powerful one, I am in control. I decide when this handshake ends.'"

Trump's facial expressions sure let his feelings be known when Clinton was speaking.

"His eyes are squinted a bit, which is not typical for him. He is listening. His lip purse shows uncertainty and disagreement," Reiman said.

Clinton had a happy moment at the end of the debate when she actually did a little shimmy after a long winded answer from her rival.

Reiman said: "It is two things. It is, 'wow, do I finally get to speak?' and, 'wow, he has given me so much ammunition to talk about.' That was a genuine smile and genuine enjoyment from Hillary."

And Reiman wasn't the only one reading body language. Social media erupted over Trump's repeated sniffling during Monday's debate with hashtags like #sniffles and #trumpsniff.

Others noted that Trump took many drinks of water, whereas Clinton never touched hers.
