USA Today writer tells motorists to 'run down' Charlotte protesters

Updated

Glenn Reynolds, a USA Today columnist, drew fire on Wednesday when he suggested that people should drive over protesters in Charlotte, North Carolina, who were blocking the highway.

"Run them down," Reynolds tweeted along with a picture of the protesters. The protesters were out in force to decry the death of Keith Lamont Scott.

Reynolds' Twitter account has since been suspended, but the tweet was preserved in screenshots and is prompting many people to call for his removal from USA Today as well as from the University of Tennessee, where he is a law professor.
